POCO X2 Poses For The Camera In Live Photos Leak, Hints At Some Features

The Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Flipo, and the new Motorola Razr may soon hog the spotlight but they won't be the only notable phones coming soon. Back in 2018, Xiaomi made heads turn when it announced the Pocophone F1, or POCO F1 in some markets, cramming flagship hardware in a plastic body and selling it for half the price. The newly spun-off subsidiary will try to make lightning strike twice with the POCO X2 which was generous enough to be leaked for everyone to gawk at before its debut next week.

POCO itself wasn't too shy to reveal the phone's specs in not so subtle ways. Its key feature will undoubtedly be that 120Hz screen refresh rate, a rarity for anything but high-end gaming phones. That's just the tip of the iceberg though, and the front of the phone still has more to tell.

TechDroider showed off photos of that front, both at startup and at the About Phone screen. Immediately noticeable is the dual camera punch-hole cutout at the right corner of the screen. Specs for those two sensors are still unknown but their presence alone is enough to perk up interest.

Closer inspection also shows a rather sizeable earpiece speaker at the top. Most of its kind are often just big enough to be usable but a larger grille may suggest that the POCO X2 will use that speaker in tandem with the bottom output for a stereo setup. That is, again, not a common feature even among high-end phones.

Together with a 64MP Sony IMX686 camera and a Snapdragon 730 processor, the POCO X2 is shaping up to be something that would sound more expensive than what fans of the POCO F1 hope it would be. Xiaomi has scheduled a February 4 date to reveal all and it could steal a bit of the attention away from the more expensive handset coming the week after.
