PlayStation Vue rolls out local live FOX channels in 34 markets

Sony has pushed out an update for PlayStation Vue, its OTT streaming live television service. With the update comes a live Fox feed for a total of 34 local designated market areas. This gives PlayStation Vue an edge over competing services that aren't able to offer the same FOX-branded live feed. This joins the recent launch of 193 regional FOX sports network channels.

PlayStation Vue was one of the first livestreaming live television services to launch, offering subscribers a way to watch live TV over the Internet rather than through a traditional cable or satellite service. Competitors include Sling TV, DirecTV NOW, and Hulu Live TV.

Sony's offering comes in four plans: Access, Core, Elite, and Ultra. Prices are decent, starting at $39.99/month and ranging up to $74.99/month. Channel offerings partly depend on location, with local channels varying based on your city. PS Vue also offers standalone channels, including HBO and epix Hits, as add-on options.

As of yesterday, the number of markets with local FOX channel access expanded by 34, making PS Vue one of a limited number of distributors with it. With it, subscribers will have access to FOX's live programming. The customers in these markets will lose access to the FOX On Demand channel, though the FOX VOD content will remain.

This is the company's latest channel expansion. PS Vue previously rolled out 193 FOX regional sports network channels, as well, with the promise of expanding that in the future.
