PlayStation Plus September 2017 free games list: inFamous Second Son and more

September is almost here and Sony has finally announced which free games it will bring for PlayStation Plus subscribers. As in the past, you'll need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to access these games; if you have one, the games will be available to download without cost via the PlayStation Store's PS Plus section. Titles are notable but, depending on what your game library already holds, may not be terribly exciting.

Chief among all the titles is inFamous: Second Son, an open world action adventure game that centers around the character Delsin Rowe, who possesses superpowers in a world where these powers get you labelled a 'bioterrorist.' That makes life difficult, but you'll have to get along in the world regardless. Check out the trailer below to see a sample of the gameplay.

The game is only available for PlayStation 4 owners, as is Strike Vector Ex, an aerial combat game that takes place from a first-person perspective. According to Sony, Strike Vector Ex has improvements for console-based controls, plus there are new features and modes that are specifically for the PlayStation 4.

Less notable but no less welcomed (they're free, after all) are the PlayStation 3 games Truck Racer and Handball 2016. Both titles are pretty self-explanatory. Meanwhile, PS Vita owners will get We Are Doomed and Hatoful Boyfriend. Both have a cross buy with the PS4.

As well, Sony is announcing a special bonus just for PS Plus subscribers who also have the PS VR. If you own Sony's virtual reality headset, you'll get to download the arena-based FPS game RIGS for free from September 5th through November 7th. The game takes players to the future where they play a sport that blends together a bunch of existing sports, including combat sports.
