Play Music gets Material Design update, iPad version for iOS

Today, Google has rolled out a fairly significant update to their Play Music app for iOS. The app has been refreshingly redesigned, and will now have a Material Design interface that keeps it more closely aligned with their other recent app updates for both iOS and Android. The overall navigation isn't changing, but the 'currently playing' screen is a lot cleaner and more modern. Fans of the larger screen will also love this update, as it's the first time Play Music has a proper iPad app.

Google also re-worked the artist and album pages, which now feed info a brighter interface. Buttons seem to float over the background, which is a hallmark of Material Design.

Thankfully, Google also saw fit to remember that iOS doesn't only mean iPhone, and has created an iPad interface. Now, tablet users won't have to suffer the blown-up iPhone version of Play Music on their tablets, and can enjoy navigating the app in a way that makes sense for the tablet. Also, it's Material Design throughout, so enjoy it!

The update is ready now, as is the iPad-friendly version of Play Music. The changes might be slight, but they do enough to keep us excited about the update.
