Plague Road strategy game heading to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita

The turn-based strategy game 'Plague Road' will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita, Sony has announced. The game, which is brightly colored and highly saturated with quasi-realistic designs, follows the story of a doctor who is heading back into a diseased city in search of survivors. It's a milestone for the game, which first launched on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

According to the Kickstarter page, Plague Road will take gamers to this city and on a longer journey of discovery during which they learn, among other things, why the Plague Doctor left the first time around. Why is the doctor coming back? What can redeem him? Gamers will learn that in due time, too.

Gamers will travel through multiple stages: the Plains, Forest, City Center, and Outskirts. Each section of the game has unique rewards and risks, as well as their own threats and encounters with characters. Gamers will be tasked with completing objectives, something that itself will require careful strategies, hence the genre.

One interesting aspect of Plague Road is that any survivors the gamer brings out onto the road will be permanently lost if they die, requiring careful decisions to be made by the player. The game will be offered as a cross-buy between the two consoles, and it'll support the PS4 Pro.
