Peugeot 208 comes in EV, gas, or diesel flavors

Peugeot has pulled the covers off an all-new car that slots into the European B segment. The car is the Peugeot 208, and it comes in three different versions at launch. The 208 can be had in electric, gas, or diesel versions. The car ships with the new Peugeot i-Cockpit with a 3D heads-up display and multiple driver aids normally reserved for higher-end segments.Peugeot's 208 rides on the PSA Group's latest vehicle platform called CMP, or Common Modular Platform. The platform will fit into the B and C segments. The platform is adaptable in dimension and powertrain. The CMP platform is 30kg lighter than the outgoing F1 platform.

The car has better aerodynamics for a quieter ride and better economy, featuring a leveled floor-pan and electronically controlled air inlets. Peugeot decreased rolling resistant with new tires and reduced suspension friction. The cars also feature start-stop technology. Peugeot also notes that the CMP platform is more comfortable with less vibration and a quieter interior, but is also safer with a bunch of new safety items.

The Peugeot e-208 e-motion has a 136 bhp, 260 Nm of torque electric motor. It has dual braking modes with battery regeneration. The car has a heat pump inside and automatic temperature control. A 50 kWh battery inside can go 340 km per charge.

The Peugeot 208 has three gas 3-cylinder engine options and a single four-cylinder diesel offering. Among the safety tech available is an adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, full park assist, and lane keeping assistance. The car can also recommend speed limits signs and recommend speeds.
