Paypal Steps Up Security

Worried about online security? These days you have to. Not a day goes by where I don't read an article about identity theft and compromised bank accounts. Paypal is one of the most secure ways to exchange money over the internet, but even it has it's weaknesses. Phishing is easily the best way for someone to get ahold of your account information.

In an attempt to keep one step ahead of those that would take your information, the people over at Paypal have come up with one of the most secure ways to access your account that I have seen. The idea is that you have a device that randomly generates a six-digit security key every 30 seconds. This key must be entered along with your username and password in order to gain access to your account.

With this in place, it will virtually eliminate account theft. Even if a phisher were able to get your username, password, and security key, they only have a 30 seconds to login. Most people don't receive an email within 30 seconds, so the information given to them would be useless. Needless to say, I have already placed an order for mine.
