Patriot Memory updates Patriot Box Office media player

There are so many streaming media boxes on the market that it can be hard to keep up with all of them today. Patriot Memory, the company famous for computer RAM and storage, has announced that it has updated its own streaming media box called the Patriot Box Office. The changes to the device are intended to increase the functionality and the name of the device was changed as well. The Patriot Box Office is now known as the PBO Core.

The PBO Core gets a new user interface that looks better and is easier to use and navigate. The functionality was enhanced with new Internet Media Services (IMS), better HDTV compatibility, and the ability to play content from external optical USB drives. The device can now show album artwork when playing audio files as well.

The addition of IMS allows for streaming and internet services like RSS feeds for video, streaming podcasts, online photo albums, live stock information, weather, news and more. All of the new features are added via a new firmware that existing Patriot Box Office users can download. The PBO Core device has HDMI 1.3a support, supports 5.1 and 7.1 Dolby Digital and DTS sound, and has a wide range of supported file formats.
