OnePlus 6T McLaren will warp where few phones have gone before

The OnePlus 6 series, both the original and the OnePlus 6T, have always been about speed. Or at least that's what OnePlus has been focusing its marketing on. It's no longer a secret that it will be extensively using that theme to market a special McLaren F1 Edition. But more than just a name and a color change, it seems that this particular version of the OnePlus 6T will also get a speed boost when it comes to charging.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is going to be plenty fast, more than the normal OnePlus 6T. That will come not just via the Snapdragon 845 that everyone already knows. The phone will also have 10 GB of RAM, OnePlus' first, to keep things operating fast and smooth.

OnePlus, however, might not focus on that kind of speed. Instead, it will be selling the idea of its "new" Warp Charge. Formerly known as DASH Charge (and rebranded because of a lawsuit), the McLaren Edition could charge faster than any OnePlus in existence.

There's still some disagreement on the exact technical details but leaked marketing renders claim to get "a day's power in 20 minutes". Some speculate that Warp Charge will use a 50-watt system but the "Warp Charge 30" suggests only 30 watts. That, however, is still faster than OnePlus' 20-watt DASH Charge.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will also supposedly adopt an orange theme to match the car maker's branding. Even the Warp Charge cable will drop the red color for an orange one. No word yet on when the two companies plan to make the big announcement.
