OnePlus 3: Brexit may force price increase

The surprising 'Brexit' vote may force OnePlus to increase its prices, the company said in a statement. Note, that price increase hasn't happened yet, and if it does come about (hint: it probably will), it'll be one of the "hard choices that need to be made," per OnePlus's statement. The reality of the situation — that is, the impact Brexit has had on the Pound — will in all likelihood result in the company's second-ever price increase, though.

In a post on its forums today, OnePlus was open about the effects Brexit may have on the company. "The worrying downward trend of the GBP may make it difficult to maintain our current pricing structure in the UK," the statement reads. "Our margins have always been thin, and our expenses are mainly in USD. This being the case, sudden drops such as the one that the Pound has recently experienced could have a direct impact on our prices."

OnePlus 3 Review

The company is encouraging those interested in a OnePlus 3 to buy it "sooner rather than later" to avoid this likely price hike. In the past, OnePlus was forced to raise its prices following a nine-year low for the Euro against the dollar; that was in early 2015.

Will it be unfortunate if the price is raised? Yes, but it won't spell the end of things. "By no means are we worried about our business in the UK, Europe or globally," the company says. "We're confident that the OnePlus 3 is one of the best phones out there, and it's our most successful product ever." The company promises to give customers a several day warning if a price increase is inbound.
