Now you can spend your WoW gold on other Blizzard games

If you've stuck with World of Warcraft for its nearly 13 years of existence, chances are you're sitting on quite the pile of gold. It wasn't too long ago that Blizzard started letting you buy items called WoW Tokens from other players, which essentially let you pay for your monthly WoW subscription with your in-game money. Now, however, the WoW Token feature is getting a pretty major expansion, and other Blizzard games are coming along for the ride.

According to the new Blizzard video you see below, you'll soon have the choice of turning your WoW Tokens into game time or Battle.net credit. Should you choose to convert them into Battle.net credit, you'll get $15 loaded into your account for each token you redeem.

This means that, through something of an involved process, you can buy content in other Blizzard games using your World of Warcraft gold. Drop it on Hearthstone packs, Overwatch loot boxes, or Heroes of the Storm content. Now Blizzard just needs to figure out some kind of microtransaction structure for Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 and the whole scheme will be complete.

As it so happens, right now there are a number of events celebrating the Lunar New Year going on in both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. In Overwatch, you can earn Year of the Rooster loot boxes, which hold special Lunar New Year skins, player icons, highlight intros, and victory poses. Heroes of the Storm, on the other hand, currently features a Lunar New Year bundle, with special skins for a handful of characters and a nimbus cloud mount.

So, if you find yourself tempted by those in-game goodies but short on real world cash, this might be a good time to try out Blizzard's new WoW Token features. Gold isn't exactly difficult to come by in World of Warcraft these days, so it shouldn't be too hard for veteran players to fund in-game purchases in other Blizzard titles.
