Not enough in-flight room? Too bad; it's about to get worse!

Some of you may have noticed that I wrote up a gadget allowing you to get more leg room, but it would seem the airlines are bound and determined to make you as uncomfortable as possible. These seats are their solution to economy-class travel; basically they are trying to help the airlines make more money.

The seats are made so that they each share an armrest, minimizing the space needed for the shoulder area. You thought you were up close and personal before, now you get to be super close to even more people. With things as they are now if you are so far overweight you have to pay for two seats. With this design what do you do, pay for three?!

Not only that, but it kind of makes it awkward to get a seat booked next to someone. I guess you could just face them the whole flight, it may make conversation a little easier. The whole set up makes me feel a little claustrophobic. The design was at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2007, which began yesterday.

Flying will get tighter [via random good stuff]
