No extended cut for The Force Awakens on Blu-ray

The Force Awakens is still smashing through box-office records, but after nearly a month, people are starting to set their sights on the DVD/Blu-ray release. After all, while the movie is an incredible experience in theaters, it will be nice to pop it in and watch it whenever you want. Plus, with the home video release, there's the chance to see some extra footage that isn't shown in theaters.

While we have confirmed that there will be extra content on the disc, we've learned that there will be no "extended" or "director's cut." Abrams confirmed this during a panel on Saturday. The extra content comes in the way of deleted scenes, though we're not sure of how many scenes, or how long they will run.

An interesting note is that during the recent panel, Abrams said that the first cut of The Force Awakens clocked in at around two hours and 50 minutes. That's around 35 minutes longer than what was shown in theaters.

Unfortunately, we still don't know just when we'll see the movie make its way to Blu-ray and DVD. It still has some more records to break before it gets there, I imagine.
