Nintendo Switch weekly eShop update: Zombies and killer insects

As it does every Thursday, Nintendo has detailed another update to the Switch eShop. This week, it's all about indie games, which isn't surprising in the least considering the amount of attention Nintendo has been giving indie developers lately. Even better is that this is just the beginning of a rather exciting release schedule for indies on the Nintendo Switch.

One of the biggest releases of the week is undoubtedly Into the Breach. This title actually went live a few days ago as part of a surprise announcement during Nintendo's Nindies Showcase, but it deserves another mention. The turn-based strategy game sees you controlling giant mechs to save Earth's remaining cities from monstrous insects, and its rougelike elements mean it should keep you occupied for quite some time.

Also new on the Switch eShop this week is The Messenger, a game that seems to draw at least some inspiration from old-school Ninja Gaiden games. Nintendo has been showing off The Messenger for a long time, so to see it finally release is definitely a big deal. Have a look at the full list of releases hitting the eShop over the next week:

One entry on the list that shouldn't be overlooked is the Switch port of Freedom Planet. Be sure to check out the Nindies Showcase from earlier this week to see the indie comes coming to the Switch in the future, and head down to the comments section to tell us if you have your eyes on any of these titles.
