Nikon COOLPIX S3700, L32 Offer Budget-Friendly Photography
Many who want to take photos better than what their smartphones can produce may not need a rather bulky and complicated digital camera. That, or they might not have the budget for one. Luckily, Nikon is coming to their rescue with this latest batch of price-conscious digital cameras. The COOLPIX S3700 and the COOLPIX L32 both offer a high 20.1 megapixel sensor but the S3700 steps up the game even more. For a rather minor price bump, this model comes with WiFi connectivity for remote control and easy sharing over the Internet.
As mentioned, both sport the same 20.1 megapixel size, but their sensors aren't your typical CMOS sensors today. They use charge-coupled devices or CCD sensors that are still en vogue in a lot of digital cameras. Both are also capable of capturing 720p HD videos at 30 fps. The two have almost similar builds that lean towards the more handy side, with the L32 sporting a 3.8 in. (95.4 mm) x 2.4 in. (60.3 mm) x 1.2 in. (29 mm) body and the S3700 an even smaller 3.8 in. (95.9 mm) x 2.3 in. (58 mm) x 0.8 in. (20.1 mm) frame. Other than these, however, it's easy to tell the two budget cameras apart.
The COOLPIX L32 is perhaps the even more price-friendly of the two, which also means it has less features to boast of. But that doesn't equate to a gimped camera, however. The camera can reach optical zoom levels of 5x and various modes that make it super easy to use, including an Easy Auto Mode, 15 scene modes, and one touch video recording. One rather interesting feature of the L32 is that it is powered by two AA batteries so you can simply and quickly swap out batteries when they run out.
The COOLPIX S3700 is a bit more powerful and therefore slightly more expensive. It pushes optical zoom levels to 8x and is even augmented by 16x dynamic fine zoom. It's Auto Focus system also features subject tracking. With WiFi and NFC built-in, users can use Nikon Snapbridge to connect with smartphone and tablets for remotely controlling the camera as well as quick uploading to social networks.
The COOLPIX S3700 will come in color options of silver, red, and pink for a price tag of $139.35. The COOLPIX L32 on the other hand will only have a red color and will cost only $119.95. Both digital cameras will be available this month.
