If you primarily consume news through your phone, there's a good chance you've heard of News Republic, and perhaps even use it. News Republic is a news aggregating app that sources news of all sorts from publications across the web, making them available alongside certain features and tools. The company behind the product, Cheetah Mobile, has announced an extra special something for Samsung device owners: a 'Made for Samsung' version of the news app.

As you'd expect, the new 'Made for Samsung' version of the app is designed specifically to work with Samsung's devices, and brings multiple exclusive feature to the South Korean company's mobile devices. This version of the app is available in the Samsung Galaxy Apps store, and is appropriately dubbed the "News Republic for Samsung" app.

Those who download this version of the app will get a Gear S3 widget, marking new compatibility with Samsung's wearable device. This widget shows the app's Top Stories, and enables users to read one of those stories in full using the smartwatch. As well, users are now also able to choose specific news outlets in the app, and the algorithm will take over recommending other content providers.

As well, this version of the app has an 'Edge Panel' for Galaxy S7 edge owners specifically, bringing news to the Edge Panel app. Users can view Breaking News through this, then tap to open the article if desired. Finally, there's support for long pressing on a topic to see Wikipedia data within the app itself, and text-to-speech so that users can have their news read to them.
