New 5-minute Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer features combat and abilities

Mass Effect: Andromeda is just over a month away from release, and series fans are eagerly counting down the days. Just in time to tide players over, developer BioWare has released a lengthy new trailer that includes details on combat, weapons, abilities, and other new features. With five minutes of gameplay footage, it's one of the best looks we've had at the sci-fi RPG so far.

The video highlights Andromeda's new jetpack ability, which gives players more freedom of movement when it comes to both exploring and combat. Speaking of combat, while shootouts with aliens and other hostile creatures may look familiar, a new cover system promises to keep things fresh by allowing different ways to approach enemies.

Other in-depth details include weapon types and how they can be upgraded, skill trees that will allow players to customize their play style, and of course new super abilities.

One of the biggest changes that Andromeda introduces is no longer requiring players to pick a specific class, which in turn limited them to certain weapons and abilities. Now all weapons and abilities will be available regardless of play style, with players free to choose to focus on and upgrade combat, tech, or biotic skills as they please.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC starting March 21st.
