Neuromancer movie gets greenlight with Deadpool's Tim Miller behind it

The 1984 novel by William Gibson, Neuromancer, will soon be reborn as a movie destined for a theatrical premiere, it has been announced. Neuromancer is regarded as kicking off the cyberpunk genre, and it'll be in the skilled hands of Deadpool director Tim Miller with Simon Kinberg as producer. Who will be writing the flick, however, isn't yet known.

The novel Neuromancer enjoys a healthy fan base even today, and it is notable for multiple reasons, not the least of which is being the first book to get a trio of big awards: the Hugo Award, Nebula Award, and Philip K. Dick award. It is regarded as both a classic and a science fiction masterpiece, and it only makes sense that it would make its way to the big screen.

The existence of the project was confirmed by Hollywood Reporter, which says that a writer hasn't been chosen, indicating the entire thing is still in its infancy. No further details, aside from what's listed above, are known at this time. It isn't clear who confirmed the news, either, though more details will no doubt arise in coming weeks and months.

If you're unfamiliar with the novel, now is the time to buy a copy and get reading. The book centers around a hacker named Henry Case, who is living in Japan and cut off from a global VR network known as 'The Matrix.' Things change when Case is hired by a new employer who tasks him with hacking an AI orbiting Earth.
