Netflix original series 'Narcos' detailed in new trailer

Netflix hasn't slowed its original series ambitions despite preparing for its next big thing: original movies, which will begin rolling out in October. The number of original episodic series Netflix offers is extensive at this point, and includes everything from House of Cards to Marvel's Daredevil series (currently one of its most popular offerings). Another original series has been mentioned over the past several months: Narcos. The video streaming service released a trailer for it today.

"Imagine you were born in a poor family, in a poor country, and by the time you were 28 years old you have so much money you can't even count it." Such introduces Netflix's original series Narcos, which is based on the story of Pablo Escobar and the related drug trade.

The narrator is apparently a drug enforcement agent of some sort, and he leads us through the timeline of his career. 1979 when the drug busts were small. The mid-80s when busts were measured in dozens of kilos. The years following and the skyrocketing of cartels and the drug trade.

Netflix says Narcos is a true story based on the Colombian and US efforts against the Medellin cartel during the 1980s — it promises the series shows a brutal world and all the morally ambiguous exploits that came with it. The series launches on Netflix on August 28.
