Netflix Now Has 5-Minute Shows For Kids Negotiating Bedtime

Netflix has just added a series of videos that will allow parents to perfectly troll their young kids who refuse to go to bed on time. Picture the common situation: child is watching TV when bedtime rolls around. Parent tells them it's time to turn it off, but child begs and pleads for "just one more show," then they'll promise to go to bed. Now, thanks to Netflix, parents can say "fine, just one more show," without it being a big problem. Because the show is only 5 minutes long.

Starting this week, Netflix now has the series Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites in its library. DreamWorks Animation is involved in its production, and each episode features a (short) adventure with characters Ty-Rux and Revvit.

Not only is the marketing of the show for kids at bedtime a clever way to get attention, but it could actually be a godsend for some parents. Netflix carried a global survey among users, finding that 61% of parents have kids that try to delay their bedtime, with some negotiations taking as long as 20 minutes.

Out of more than 7,000 responses, the company found that it was American kids that are most likely to try using bargaining tactics in order to stall bedtime. While it's probably not a good idea to just always give in to kids' "just one more show" proposals, at least with 5 Minute Favorites they can have a backup solution that works in their favor.
