Mushkin announces EP series SSDs with SandForce SF-2500/2600 controllers

Since SandForce announced the new SSD controllers called the SF-2500 and SF-2600 different makers of SSD storage have been rushing to announce new SSDs that use the tech are coming to market. The latest company to announce new storage products using the new SandForce controllers is Mushkin.

Mushkin has announced that it will be bringing a new SSD series aimed at enterprise use to market called the EP Series. The SSDs will be offered in versions using the SF-2500 and SF-2600 controllers and will have impressive performance. The SSDs promise up to 500MB/s read and write performance in sequential transfers. Sustained random read/write IOPS are claimed to be 60,000.

The SSDs will also feature advanced EEC with up to 55-bits correctable per 512-byte sector. The new controllers will also allow both power and performance throttling to improve energy efficiency and conservation. Saving power is a big deal in the enterprise where small savings in a single drive can add up to a lot of saved across an entire data center.
