Moto X4 on Project Fi now comes in 64 GB option

On the hunt for an affordable "pure" Android phone with a hefty discount on Google's Fi MVNO? Your only option to date would be 2017's Moto X4 (the Pixel 2 doesn't really count as "affordable"). The only catch was that Project Fi only offered the lower configuration for the Android One phone. More than a year later, Google is now offering the Moto X4 with more "gigs" to keep the smartphone alive on its Project Fi network.

Even at its base model, the Moto X4 already had a lot going for it as we've seen in our review of the US' first Android One phone. Sure, it has pretty moderate specs but it was never meant to compete with high-end flagships in terms of raw power. But with the purity of Android One, the Moto X4 could hold its own against bloated premium phones.

It would definitely help, though, if it had just a wee bit more. Fortunately, Google is now delivering that, with the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage Moto X4 now available from Project Fi. Everything else remains the same, of course, like the Snapdragon 630, 5.2-inch 1920x1080 screen, and dual 12 + 8 MP cameras.

Even better, the slightly higher spec model also has an only slightly higher price tag. Project Fi is selling the 64 GB Moto X4 for only $299, a $120 discount, while the 32 GB model still goes for $249. The only catch is that it is available only in Sterling Blue color. The 32 GB Moto X4 on the other hand, is now only available in Super Black.

Admittedly, the Moto X4's specs may look dated by now, but there are still very few Android One phones available in the US. And if you're looking for one on Google's Project Fi, it's your only choice anyway. At least now you can also choose whether to go for the cheapest option or splurge a bit for more.
