Modern Combat 5 teased, more details coming at E3

Did you think Gameloft would stop at Modern Combat 4? Of course not, and that's why they've given us a little teaser of Modern Combat 5. It's the AAA title for mobile platforms and it rivals the graphics of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, almost to the point where it's unbelievable. However, Gameloft has released a one-minute trailer that should whet your appetite.

The trailer starts out by calmly showing us some of the surroundings that we'll come across in the game, played along with the prelude to La Traviata to appeal to our relaxing senses. Then, about halfway through the trailer (and as expected), chaos immediately erupts as guns blaze and explosions go off.

We don't really get to see a whole lot, but the trailer does hint that there will be missions that take place in helicopters and speedboats, because if there's anything other than guns and explosions that first-person shooter fans enjoy, it's going fast in any kind of vehicle, aircraft, or speedboat.

Of course, though, we can expect the next installment of Modern Combat to come with some obvious improvements to graphics and other gameplay elements. The series has been criticized a lot for being a look-a-like to the Call of Duty series, but when Modern Combat is the closest thing you have to Call of Duty on mobile platforms, you pretty much have to take it with no complaints.

Gameloft will fully detail the new game at E3 next week, but as far as a release date, we're not sure when the company is planning to launch it. We'd love to see it launch at E3, but we're guessing that Gameloft will hold it until later in the summer. However, you can expect it to release on both iOS and Android for a few dollars.
