Miyamoto Comments on GC Remakes for Wii

If you're planning on buying a Nintendo Wii when it hits later this year, you might want to hold up on buying all those Gamecube titles that you've always wanted. Mario creator and all-around Nintendo deity Shigeru Miyamoto has said that many of the Gamecube's more popular titles could see Wii re-releases that would add Wiimote support, among other things. Would be nice to see the first two Metroid Primes adopt the same control scheme as Metroid Prime 3, no?

"The machine is based on GC. We'll be upgrading the development tools, but GameCube code can be used for the most part as is. In that sense, I believe that it would be good to remake GameCube games for Wii, and that some titles would become better with the change to the Wii remote controller."

This also probably means that the Wii will be 100% compatible with all Gamecube games, as it's running on similar hardware. So Gamecube owners rejoice, and all your potential Wii owners should keep your eyes peeled for Wii editions of the Gamecube games you've always wanted. I know I will.
