Mitsubishi teases new hybrid SUV for Geneva unveil

Mitsubishi isn't the automaker it once was having lost many of its dealers around the US and seeing its market share dwindle. That hasn't stopped the automaker from working on new models and Mitsubishi is teasing a new hybrid SUV concept car that will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show. As of now, the concept car has no official name.

What we do know so far about the SUV is that it will be a compact car and uses something Mitsubishi calls the "Earth Technology stable of environmental technologies." The car has a plug-in hybrid drive train. It may be a similar drive train to what Mitsubishi offers in its European and Asian markets.

That plug-in hybrid drive train isn't currently offered in the US. We certainly can't tell much from the teaser shots of the car. The side profile reminds me a bit of the Nissan Rogue, at least what I can see of it. It's unclear for now how much production potential the concept car might have.

We should get the full details on the new concept when the 2015 Geneva auto show kicks off in March. The teaser shots do show some visual similarities to the Concept XR vehicle that Mitsubishi had at Geneva last year.
