Mayfield Robotics Kuri Gallery

Mayfield Robotics' Kuri is getting closer to launch, but the Bosch-backed team isn't slowing on adding new features. The latest version of the domestic robot sheds pounds courtesy of an extreme diet, paring back unnecessary plastic and interconnects, as well as switching to custom circuitboards. That makes it easier to carry and, thanks to new wheels, more agile over uneven floors and rugs.

Kuri Vision has also been added. Taking advantage of an upgraded 1080p HD camera in the robot's eye, it takes advantage of the fact that Kuri knows who he's seeing and where it is in the home. It will shoot multiple short clips over the course of a day, and then present the best in an album in the companion app.

Over time – and with video ratings – Kuri Vision will improve, giving you a hitherto-unseen perspective from the viewpoint of a robot. The goal, Mayfield says, is to add some "enduring value" to the whole thing, rather than the charm tailing off over time.
