Master & Dynamic MH40 wireless headphones cut cord on a fan-favorite

Master & Dynamic is turning five years old, and because of that milestone, it's releasing a wireless version of its MH40 headphones. The original MH40 is one of Master & Dynamics more successful models, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to see it get a wireless version. The headphones are launching today, but if you want a pair for yourself, you'll need to plop down a fair amount of cash.

The wireless MH40s don't look much different from the original MH40s from a design standpoint. If fact, you'd be hard pressed to find any differences between the two aesthetically, aside from the required cable for the original MH40.

According to Master & Dynamic, the wireless MH40 uses custom 40mm Neodymium drivers and employs Bluetooth 5.0 for its wireless functionality. Like the wired model, they're constructed of anodized aluminum with memory foam earpads that have been wrapped in lambskin. The headphones are charged via USB-C, which is certainly a nice touch given the trend toward the standard we've seen in recent years in other devices.

The over-ear headphones also come with an interesting feature: coordinates for one of ten different "cultural hotspots" around the world. The original MH40 had the coordinates for New York City's Grand Central Station printed on them, and with the wireless MH40, you'll get a postcard that'll help you find the hotspot associated with the coordinates printed on your headphones.

The wireless MH40 are available now from Master & Dynamics' website in three different colors that mirror the wired version: gunmetal/gunmetal coated canvas, silver metal/brown coated canvas, and black metal/black coated canvas. They'll set you back a not-insignificant $300, making them $50 more expensive than their wired brother.
