Maisie Williams talks about possible The Last of Us role

This past summer, a teaser poster for a theatrical rendition of The Last of Us was released at the San Diego Comic Con, and in it we got a glimpse of an unknown girl. It was during an SDCC panel that Maisie Williams — best known for playing Arya Stark in Game of Thrones — was revealed as being a contender for playing Ellie. Though the movie is still a long way off and details about it are slight, Williams recently confirmed that talks took place, and went into some details about what went down.

Excitement about a movie based on the game The Last of Us reached a high frenzy this summer, but has since slumped as news about the film has been silent. That changed recently when Maisie Williams talked about the project in an interview with Flicks And The City, confirming that talks took place.

Said Williams, in part, "I went to a lunch and we spoke a little bit about it, and then they announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it. Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."

If that lack of news about The Last of Us movie disappoints you, her other talks will likely reverse your feelings. Said Williams, she's part of another project that she can't say much about, except that it's "in that sort of superhero vein." The project will be akin to the movie Kick-Ass, she said, but won't be happening for a few years.
