Lyft will soon give select riders access to a new program that rewards customers for their loyalty. The program is called Lyft Rewards and it will give riders points for every dollar spent on the transportation service. The company will allow its customers to use these points for certain rewards, such as credit for future rides or upgrades to Lyft Lux.
Lyft Rewards will officially start rolling out to some users next month, though the company indicates that a wider rollout will go live some time next year. Lyft will alert its initial riders about their eligibility via a notification or email from the company. The program will expand the number of riders it accepts gradually.
The company indicates the rollout will be limited to certain cities initially, but it hasn’t stated which ones will get first access. Customers who get an invitation and take advantage of the program will be able to view their available points within the Lyft mobile app.
The company hasn’t provided finer details about the rewards program at this time, such as how many points each dollar will earn, nor how many points it will take to redeem rewards. A full list of possible rewards also wasn’t provided.
The company encourages its riders to provide feedback on the program, explaining that it is looking into other ways to make the program better. Lyft says existing feedback indicates riders want things like the ability to make double points on some days and hire more experienced drivers for their rides, among other things.
