Lotus Evora GT430 Sport ditches the GT430 aero for a cleaner look

Lotus pulled the wraps off the standard Evora GT430 a while back and while the car was dead sexy and the fastet Lotus street car ever made, but its aero bits were a bit much for some people. Lotus has now unveiled the Evora GT430 Sport that shares the same engine and chassis but ditches the downforce-generating aerodynamic elements of the original car.

The Evora GT430 Sport can be had with a manual or automatic transmission. The engine is a 3.5L V6 engine with a supercharger and charge cooled engine making 430 hp and 440 nm of torque. If you opt for the automatic version, you get a bit extra torque to the tune of 450 Nm overall. Ditching the aero bits sheds weight making the Evora GT430 Sport lighter at 1248 kg dry, that is a loss of 10kg. The car has a top speed of 196 mph.

The aero bits missing on the Sport include the carbon fiber splitter, profile carbon fiber wing, and louvers on top of the front wheel arches. The automatic transmission version of the both versions of the GT430 will launch in January 2018. Lotus does note that the automatic version is faster to 60mph than the manual with a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds.

That automatic transmission is a paddle shift unit. Lots of carbon fiber is used in the GT430 Sport to keep weight down including full carbon front and rear bumper, front access panel, roof panel, rear quarter panel a the one piece louvered rear tailgate . The GT430 Sport has less downforce with 100 kg at 196 mph compared to the 250kg at 190 mph produced by the normal GT430.

Inside the car buyers can choose to add a touch-screen infotainment system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, and a backup camera. Both GT430 versions have variable traction control and special race modes. The GT430 Sport does have narrower wheels and tires than the GT430, but those wider wheels and tires are an option.
