Lotus Elise 20th anniversary edition get supercharged engine

Lotus has unveiled a special version of the Elise to celebrate the 20th birthday of that model. The car is called the Elise 20th Anniversary Special Edition and it is based on the Elise S Club Racer and actually replaces that car in the line. It doesn't seem like the Elise has been around for 20 years, but the first Elsie debuted back in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The special edition of the car weighs only 2,015 pounds making it a bit lighter than the current Elise S. Power for the car comes from a 1.8L supercharged engine that is able to push the car from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds and to a top speed of 145mph.

That makes the car slightly slower than the current Elise S, but the car does gain some new standard features to offset the slightly lower performance. Those special features include matte black forged wheels, lightweight sport seats, and special anniversary badges.

The car is offered in blue, green, yellow, or silver colors with the rear diffuser, wing mirrors, roll hoop and rear transom in matte black. The car can be had with a hard top as an option and is available now starting at £39,900 or $58,900 in the US.
