LG V10 gets Android Nougat in Korea, global rollout coming

LG has recently been rather proud of how quick it is to bring the latest Android updates to its phones. But, truth be told, just like any other OEM, that's really only true for for its latest model or two. Case in point is the late 2015 LG V10, still well within the customary 2-year support period. It is only now that LG's first "second screen" phone is getting its Nougat update, and even then only up to Android 7.0.

To be fair, LG did just finish giving the LG G5 some nutty love so, at least in the order of appearance, it's not completely off track. That said, for a company that boasts of fast Android updates and minimal intrusive modifications, the update is probably a long time coming. Android 7.0, after all, has been out for half a year.

The update brings, among other things, split screen functionality. LG already had something akin to this in its QSlide feature, but that is limited only to its own apps Nougat also brings in-notification replies, improved Doze mode, and support for SD cards as app storage.

In addition to Android 7.0, LG is also rolling out is own UX 5.0 update to the V10. In addition to a visual refresh, LG's new custom user experience allows users to select how big or small they want icons and text to be. It also adds a notification in the settings app for important updates and reminders.

The Android Nougat rollout for the LG V10 is currently only available for Korean models, namely the F600L, F600K, and F600S. The international rollout, however, shouldn't be that far behind.
