LG Q60, K50, K40 consumer-friendly phones lead the MWC 2019 march

Just as it had promised, LG is bringing the full force of its smartphone army to MWC 2019 next week. For the first time, it will be presenting new models across all its tiers, from the premium G and V lines to the consumer-friendly Q and K models. To get everything else out of the way, LG has revealed three new smartphones, the LG Q60, the LG K50, and the LG K40, for those who want the premium look without breaking the bank.

LG positions these three budget-friendly phones as options for those who want premium features for less but, truth be told, there's very little you'd find in them that would remind you those premium models beyond the looks. True, there is the DTS-X 3D Surround Sound if you have compatible earphones, as well as AI CAM features that is becoming the norm for all smartphones these days anyway.

The LG Q60 does have the edge in terms of cameras. It has three of them on its back, a 16 megapixel PDAF sensor, a 5 megapixel super wide angle camera, and 2 megapixel depth sensor. This perhaps takes it closest to the upcoming LG G8 ThinQ and LG V50 ThinQ 5G, especially with its FullVision display and waterdrop notch that houses a 13 megapixel front camera.

• CPU: 2.0 GHz quad-core• RAM: 3 GB• Storage: 64 GB• Display: 6.26-inch 19:9 HD+ FullVision Display• Main Camera: 16 MP PDAF, 5 MP Super Wide Angle, 2 MP depth sensor• Secondary Camera: 13 MP• Battery: 3,500 mAh

The LG K50 is almost like a watered-down version of the Q60. It has the same screen size and same waterdrop notch that even has the same 13 megapixel selfie shooter. Both run on a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor with 3 GB of RAM and is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery. The core differences come in the lower 32 GB storage and having only two cameras on its back, a 13 megapixel PDAF main camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor.

• CPU: 2.0 GHz quad-core• RAM: 3 GB• Storage: 32 GB• Display: 6.26-inch 19.5:9 HD+ FullVision Display• Main Camera: 13 MP PDAF, 2 MP depth sensor• Secondary Camera: 13 MP• Battery: 3,500 mAh

In contrast, the LG K40 is as far removed from the two as it can be. Despite the FullVision branding, the smaller 5.7-inch HD+ screen has pretty large bezels top and bottom. The specs are generally lower as well and there's only one 16 megapixel rear camera. LG promises that the 3,000 mAh battery is more than enough for a full day of use.

• CPU: 2.0 GHz quad-core• RAM: 2 GB• Storage: 32 GB• Display: 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ FullVision Display• Main Camera: 16 MP PDAF• Secondary Camera: 8 MP with LED Flash• Battery: 3,000 mAh

The LG Q60, LG K50, and LG K40 will, of course, be on display at MWC 2019 from February 25 to 28. No availability details have been revealed yet.
