LG Phoenix 2 lands at AT&T for GoPhone customers

Fans of the AT&T pre-paid mobile service GoPhone have a new device to choose that is available now called the LG Phoenix 2. The smartphone can be purchased directly from Att.com for $99.99 right now. It will be available to purchase in national retail stores starting on May 14 and in AT&T stores on June 10. The Phoenix 2 is offered exclusively in black at AT&T.

The smartphone has a 5-inch HD screen and runs Android Marshmallow for the OS right out of the box. Power for the smartphone comes from a 2,125 mAh internal battery. That 5-inch screen has zero gaps and the smartphone has rounded corners for comfort in the hand and a premium look.

The screen uses in-cell touch tech providing a clear picture even if viewed outdoors. The battery is removable so you can put another in to keep the device working all day if needed. It also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 16GB on top of the 16GB of internal storage. The phone supports Knock On / Knock Code to wake the phone and unlock it. The front camera is a 5MP unit that supports Gesture Shot.

The rear main camera is an 8MP unit with 4x digital zoom. It can capture 720p video at 30 fps and has an LED flash. It's unclear exactly what SoC is used in the phone or how much RAM it has. This is certainly a budget smartphone for folks who don't want to be tied to a contract, but do want the ability to run apps and perform basic smartphone tasks. This device won't win any benchmark wars, but would be good for a first time mobile user or to replace a damaged device on the cheap.
