Lenovo ThinkPad T440p and T540p combine battery life with performance

Lenovo has unveiled several new notebook computers today aimed at business users who spend a lot of time on the go. Two of the most interesting notebooks unveiled are the ThinkPad T440p and the T540p. Those two machines promise impressive battery life along with impressive performance.

The notebooks can be powered by up to Intel Quad-core i7 processors and the T440p promises 13.7 hours of battery life. The T540p promises up to 12.6 hours with the extended battery pack. Both machines can be optioned with Nvidia GeForce GT 730M GPUs and up to 16 GB of RAM. Storage options include various SSD or HDD options up to 1 TB.

The notebooks can also be fitted with 4G mobile broadband and have four USB 3.0 ports. Lenovo has also rolled out the ThinkPad W540 that it bills as its most powerful and mobile workstation ever. This machine has a 15.5-inch 3K IPS display. The screen has a resolution of 2880 x 1620.

Despite impressive performance, the machine is 27 mm thick and weighs 5.45 pounds making it the thinnest and lightest mobile workstation in its class. The W540 is an independent software vendor certified mobile workstation. The machine has the latest quad core Intel Core i7 processors, 32 GB of RAM, backlit keyboard, and up to 2 TB of storage. These three notebooks will be available starting in November. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
