Lenovo Smart Tab M8, Yoga Smart Tab and Smart Display 7 pack Google Assistant

Smart speakers are great, but smart displays have more to offer, giving users access to the best of personal assistants combined with video calls, web browsing, viewing images, and more. Lenovo is back with three new smart display options, one with the expected flat-surface form factor, the other two featuring a traditional tablet design with unique twists.

Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab

The newly unveiled Yoga Smart Tab is a tablet that can function as a smart home hub, according to Lenovo, which has designed this tablet with a unique and flexible kickstand offering four different usage modes. In addition to being able to hold the device like an ordinary tablet, the device can also be balanced on the kickstand to sit upright, placed at an angle on a flat surface, or hung on a wall like a picture frame.

Lenovo has packed a number of features into the Yoga Smart Tab, including dual 2-watt JBL speakers with a smart power amp and Dolby Atmos, a 3-microphone array with 360-degree far-field voice recognition for using Google Assistant, and a 10.1-inch Full HD IPS display with 70-percent color gamut and 320 nits brightness.

Other features — and there are quite a few — include an 8MP rear camera, 5MP wide-angle front camera, face unlock, an SD card slot, USB-C, micro SIM support, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band WiFi, GPS, IP52 waterproof rating, full sensor loadout, a 3.5mm audio jack, and up to 11 hours of battery life. Users get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and either 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB memory and storage options.

The Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab will be available this month starting at $249.99 USD.

Lenovo Smart Tab M8

Joining the Yoga Smart Tab is the Smart Tab M8 tablet with a two-in-one charging station that enables the device to double as a smart home assistant, according to Lenovo.

As with dedicated smart displays and the new Yoga Smart Tab, the new Smart Tab M8 can be used with Google Assistant's Ambient Mode as a stationary smart display.

The Smart Tab M8 features an 8-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 800 resolution, 16.7 million colors, 60-percent color gamut, and 350 nits brightness. The tablet packs a MediaTek A22 Tab quad-core 2.0Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB storage options, a dual-microphone array, two side speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a 5000mAh battery.

Other features include a nano-SIM slot for the LTE model, micro SD support for expanding the storage, a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and a 2MP front-facing camera with fixed focus, a G-sensor and P-sensor, 802.11/a/b/g/n/ac dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, and the included smart charging station.

The Lenovo Smart Tab M8 will be available in October starting at $119.99 USD.

Lenovo Smart Display 7

Joining the two tablets is the Lenovo Smart Display 7, a smart display with a dedicated base and overall compact size. As with other smart displays, the Smart Display 7 is designed to be placed on a flat surface, such as on a countertop in the kitchen or a desk in the office. The display provides direct access to Google Assistant, video calling, Google Photos, and other expected features.

The Smart Display 7, as its name suggests, features a 7-inch IPS display with a modest 1024 x 600 resolution, touch support, and companion 2MP wide-angle webcam. The device weighs around 1.5lbs and measures 155mm x 176mm x 83mm, (6.1 x 6.9 x 3.2in), making it very compact.

The smart display packs a dual-microphone array, two 5-watt speakers, a passive radiator, RGB sensor, and TrueBlock camera shutter for blocking the webcam when it's not in use. Other features include a microphone mute button, 802.11ac WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0. The device is powered by a MediaTek 8167S 1.5GHz processor.

The Lenovo Smart Display 7 will be available in October starting at $129.99 USD.
