LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens game re-imagines the movie as a comedy

True to LEGO re-interpretive style, the next video game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is a comedic take on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The best way to make this clear is through a new take on the original teaser trailer for the film – you know the one. The one where Finn pops up in the desert to scare the pants off everyone watching. The one where you first saw BB-8 rolling. The one where you see Rey driving her popsicle speeder bike.

What's strange about this game – beyond the oddities inherent in any LEGO game – is the idea that it contains new information relevant to the canonical Star Wars universe.

According to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, this game "introduces new story content exploring the time between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, providing additional insight about the new movie and its characters."

How intriguing! Maybe we'll get to know more about why we didn't see the greatest bumper sticker of all time on Rey's standard speeder appearance in the film. We'll be watching out for that for sure.

This game will be launching on June 28th, 2016 for basically every platform currently out in the wild today.

That includes Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC, and even PS Vita. Different platforms will have ever-so-slightly different content such as a "Droid Character Pack" and a "Phantom Limb Level Pack" available to the PS3 and PS4 exclusively.
