League's Clash NA event launch canceled over technical issues

The League of Legends Clash event set to launch today has been impacted by technical difficulties. Following word that Clash had been delayed a full day in some regions because of these issues, it has been announced that Clash NA – that is, North America — has been completely canceled. This was supposed to the the Clash NA opening weekend.

Word of the troubles surfaced earlier today when it was revealed that Clash EUW, OCE, and EUNE were delayed for a day due to technical issues. Wording suggests the delay could extend beyond a day, but that's yet to be seen. In at least one case, Riot Games indicated that it didn't know what problem caused its technical issues.

While details are still fuzzy in some cases, Riot has published a new statement saying that Clash NA has been completely canceled due to the issues. The decision was made "due to unexpected technical issues that appeared when rolling it out across regions earlier today," the company explained in its statement.

There's no word on when the Clash NA launch will take place. In a statement, Riot said:

We know that you have made an incredible commitment clearing your schedules and practicing with teammates to prepare for Clash, and our team is focused on finding a solution to get Clash back on track. This work will continue and there will likely be Clash tests in certain regions around the world as we explore fixes, but this Clash weekend is officially canceled here in North America. We will continue to keep you updated.

Riot Games says that Clash tickets remain in inventories, though, and that they can be used whenever Clash is available.
