League of Legends gamers face restricted ranked play over bad behavior

Most sane people know how to have fun and be a good sport, but there is always that one clueless guy who pops in and ruins something for everyone else. Riot Games has ramped up its penalties against those kinds of gamers, adding more restrictions in place for those who forget their manners.

League of Legends, the massively popular video game, has already had a chat restriction in place for those who misbehave while playing. That penalty has been joined by another for the same ill-mannered actions: restricted ranked play.

Riot Games revealed the news on the League of Legends forums earlier today, detailing the feature it says it has been "developing to help improve the quality of the ranked play experience." The ranked restrictions experiment, as they call it, has been tested on PBE.

Those who are restricted will have to play through a preset amount of games while on good behavior for the limitation to be lifted. Gamers are encouraged to report those who continue to act in unsportsmanlike manners. Riot Games says the feature will be rolling out on NA and EU servers soon.
