Land Rover Defender Works V8 Celebrates Seven Decades of Rover

Land Rover has announced a very cool off-roader that will get fans of the brand hot and bothered. The new vehicle marks the launch of a special limited-edition Land Rover Defender packing a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood. The V8 makes 405PS and 515Nm of torque.

That big V8 makes the Defender Works V8 accelerate to 60mph in 5.6 seconds and gives it a 106mph top speed. Only 150 specially selected and re-engineered Defenders will be built with the V8 and they will be matched with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with sport mode. The Works V8 Defenders will also have updated brakes and handling kits along with exclusive wheels.

The wheels are 18-inch diamond-turned Sawtooth allow with 265/65 R18 all-terrain tires. Rover will offer the special Defenders in eight standard body colors with two of those being satin finishes with contrasting Santorini Black roof, wheel arches, and front grilles. The vehicles also get machined aluminum door handles, fuel filler caps, and Defender bonnet lettering.

Updated lighting features bi-LED headlamps. Inside the interior gets full Windsor Leather trim on the dash, door panels, headliner, and Recaro sport seats. A Classic Infotainment system is also fitted by Land Rover.

Land Rover plans to make both 90 and 110 wheelbase Defender Works V8 versions with sales directly from Land Rover Classic with prices starting at £150,000 for the 90 in the UK. That works out to about $208,000 in the US.
