Lady Gaga "Born This Way" $0.99 Again As Amazon Takes Second Shot
Despite Lady Gaga having "melted some servers" – or at least thousands of her little monsters did, in the rush to take advantage of the $0.99 album offer on Monday this week, Amazon is offering a repeat of the promotion today with the promise that "this time we're ready." The "Born This Way" deal is likely to keep Gaga's album at the top spot in the MP3 bestsellers chart.
Even if you're not that fussed by Lady Gaga's music (don't let the kids on Tumblr hear you admit that, you'll get lynched) Amazon is throwing in 20GB of free Cloud Drive storage. The free system – officially available in the US only, though unofficial workarounds have proliferated – comes with 5GB of online storage as standard, but buying any album automatically boosts that to 20GB.
Amazon is yet to confirm how many people purchased "Born This Way" on Monday, but there were widespread reports of people unable to download the tracks having made the purchase. According to director of Music for Amazon, Craig Pape, demand was "far above what we expected."
