Kingdom Come: Deliverance day 1 console patch will be 23GB

Eager gamers excited to get their hands on Kingdom Come: Deliverance better have a good Internet connection. The game's day 1 patch clocks in at a huge 23GB, making it a hefty download to start things off. This day 1 patch will be applied to both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, but it'll be worth the inconvenience. Developer Warhorse explains why the day 1 update will be so large.

For those who are unfamiliar, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world adventure RPG sent in the Holy Roman Empire. The game is currently available to pre-order on both aforementioned consoles, as well as Steam for PC, but console owners will have that big initial download.

In talking about the big update, Warhorse explained that console games must be submitted three months ahead of the launch date. Those three months, the developer says, is a time during which additional content can be created or the creators can take a rest. Rather than taking a break or creating DLC content, the team created more content that will be made available for free to players.

To get that content, buyers will need to download the content. The download will be worth it, though, the company explains. With those extra months of work, players will get more balanced quests, smoother RPG progression, and a faster and more stable game. "Every facet of the game got some polish," Warhorse says.

It's a solid reason for such a large patch, but that doesn't make it any better for the many players who are stuck on a slower Internet connection, which are unfortunately common in many parts of the US. Depending on one's Internet speeds, the download could take days to complete.
