Jaybird reveals Run XT true wireless earbuds made for athletes

Sport headphones company Jaybird has introduced Run XT, a pair of truly wireless earbuds designed for outdoorsy users in need of durability. The new model boasts a variety of features, including a double hydrophobic nano-coating that protects the ear pieces from moisture. Unlike some competing models, the Run XT are suitable for runners and other athletes who do a lot of moving and sweating.

Truly wireless earbuds are exactly what they sound like: Bluetooth earbuds that aren’t tethered together by a cable. This design was popularized by Apple AirPods, though there are multiple alternatives on the market at this point.

The new Jaybird Run XT are counted among them, targeting fitness enthusiasts, runners, and other athletes who get sweaty and do a lot of bouncing. To keep them in place, the company equipped its Run XT ear pieces with interchangeable silicone ear tips and fins that help them fit snugly in the wearer’s ears.

When fully charged, the ear pieces offer four hours of audio playback, a figure that jumps to 12 hours if you could the carrying case’s own internal battery. According to Jaybird, users can expect a full hour of audio playback per five minutes spent in the charging case due to fast charging tech.

In addition to their sweat-proof design and decently long run time, the Jaybird Run XT support Google Assistant and Siri, both of which can be summoned with a button press. As well, the model is designed to help keep runners and other outdoor athletes safe by offering the ability to use only the right ear piece.

The model will be offered in Storm Gray/Glacier and Black/Flash color options for $179.99 USD. The company expects the model to arrive in stores next month; they can be ordered now online from Amazon and Best Buy, as well.
