James Bond 25 loses director Danny Boyle over creative differences

The team behind the upcoming James Bond 25 movie have announced a big change: Danny Boyle will no longer serve as director. The decision is due to "creative differences," according to a tweet on the official James Bond Twitter account. The upcoming installment is expected to be the last starring Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Boyle has directed many notable movies, including Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours, and is a Bond fan. He'd revealed back in March that he was taking on the project and that a script was underway, but a brief joint statement by Daniel Craig, Barbara Broccoli, and Michael G. Wilson reveal that things have changed.

No additional statements about the nature of the creative differences were provided. Whether the loss of its director will delay the production, which is scheduled to start in December, is unclear. The most recent Bond movie, Spectre, was released in 2015. The upcoming Bond 25 film is set for theatrical debut on November 8, 2019.

No replacement director has been named at this time. Boyle has previously revealed that Trainspotting writer John Hodge was tapped to help write the script for Bond 25, but it's unclear whether he is still involved with the project. Boyle hasn't issued a statement about the change at this time.
