Ivy Ross: Google Glass's new boss

Latest among changes taking place at Google is the appointment of a new head of Glass: Ivy Ross, who will be starting her new position this month. On the Glass Google+ account today, Ross posted an open letter to the public detailing her new position, saying that she is looking "forward to answering the seemingly simple, but truly audacious questions Glass poses."

Such questions include things like whether technology can free its users and integrate them into the here-and-now, rather than the oft-criticized tendency to draw one out of the present moment. Said Ross, "Can it help us look up and out at the world around us, and the people who share it with us?"

Before taking roost at Google, Ross worked in the areas of marketing and design for companies including Art.com, Calvin Klein, Mattel, Bausch & Lomb, the Gap, and more. At each company, says Ross, she asked similar questions "in different ways, for different products."

She seems excited for her new position within the tech industry, saying that "Glass is especially cool, as no one has really tried to answer [the above questions] with a product like this before." Ross is set to start her new position on Monday, May 19.
