Apple has released iOS 12.2, bringing its users the company's newly unveiled Apple News+ subscription service, as well as a new Siri ability for playing content on Apple TV from mobile, a few new Animoji, support for second-generation AirPods, and a selection of other smaller changes and bug fixes. The new update is rolling out to iPhone and iPad owners now.

One of the biggest changes in iOS 12.2 is the addition of Apple News+, the newly unveiled subscription service that enables users to get content from major newspapers and magazines. As well, the existing Apple News service has expanded into Canada as a free offering with personalized news feeds. Apple News+ is available in both the US and Canada.

In addition to the Apple News+ inclusion, iOS 12.2 brings the ability to play videos on Apple TV using a Siri voice command via iPad and iPhone. Users with compatible devices have also received access to four new Animoji: a boar, owl, giraffe, and shark.

Other additions are relatively minor, including an AirPlay update that adds dedicated TV controls to the Lock Screen and Control Center, simplified Screen Time toggle for temporarily enabling and disabling app limits, the addition of Apple Pay transactions below cards in Wallet, and more.

In addition to new features and tweaks, the update brings new support and bug fixes, including Air Quality Index support in Maps for US, UK, and India, improved Apple TV Remote stability on iOS, a 5G E icon for select devices on AT&T's 5G Evolution network, and improved audio recording quality in Messages.

iPhone and iPad owners who don't yet see the update alert can manually check for it under Settings > General > Software Update.
