Insomniac Games Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault coming to PS3

It's hard to believe that the unlikely crime-fighting duo Ratchet & Clank are about to celebrate their 10-year anniversary. First launching on the PS2 in 2002, the series has grown to become one of Sony's most powerful franchises. It's also one of few third-party platformer franchises to remain exclusive to one platform holder.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary, Insomniac Games is preparing the launch of a new PS3 title called Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. "Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is a fun-sized Ratchet adventure which will be available for download exclusively on the PlayStation Store. We've returned to the series' classic feel, camera, controls and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play," said Insomniac CEO Ted Price.

It will also be an online multiplayer game, something that many R&C titles have shied away from. Insomniac is also working on remastering some of its most successful PS2 Ratchet & Clank titles, complete with high-definition graphics and optimized image rendering. But the company admits that it needs to look ahead as well as looking back during this monumental milestone in the game series's history. Insomniac says more R&C details will be coming out "in the next couple of weeks."
