Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus takes everyone drifting

Hyundai has unveiled a very cool van that is called the iMax N Drift Bus. The van is a one-off ride that is "inspired by the mischievous spirit of N" and promises to put a smile on faces of the driver and up to seven passengers. Building the van required an engine swap.

Hyundai took the anemic 2.5-liter CRDi engine and tossed it in favor of a larger 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The V6 makes more than 300kW of power and 555Nm of torque. The van also has a bi-mode exhaust for better sound.

The engine was paired up with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The van rolls on electronically-controlled dampers and brakes that have an N performance upgrade. The wheels the van rolls on are taken from the i30 N and are wrapped in performance tires. The drift van can destroy those tires at will.

The van has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution making it handle well with eight people on board. Inside, it has an N steering wheel and N sports front seats. The two bench seats in the back are trimmed in matching suede and leather. Anyone hoping that Drift Bus will go into production need not.

Drift Bus is not a production model and isn't road legal. It's limited to use on the race track, and the custom Drift Bus was built by Hyundai Australia. The automaker says that the intention of the van is to show its passion for building exhilarating vehicles for drivers. Check out the video above and see the drift bus in action. If there were cooler production vans like the Drift Bus, maybe parents with larger families wouldn't mind owning a van.
