Hulu and Discovery have teamed up to offer subscribers access to a slew of new live and on-demand content. The partnership will bring Discovery’s portfolio of content to Hulu’s platform, including Hulu Live TV, giving customers a total of eight network options. New to Live TV is Investigation Discovery, TLC, Discovery Channel, and more.
Hulu offers both on-demand and Live TV subscriptions, the latter including both live television programming delivered over the Internet and on-demand content that can be streamed at any time. The newly added Discovery content, which includes some hit shows from the company’s networks, is available both live and on-demand.
The deal is described by Hulu as a multi-year agreement, one that brings almost 4,000 TV show episodes from series like Street Outlaws, Fixer Upper, Deadliest Catch, House Hunters, and more.
Hulu already offered three Discovery networks, but the new deal brings another five: Discovery Channel, Investigation Discovery, TLC, Motor Trend, and Animal Planet. The service was already home to Travel Channel, HGTV, and Food Network, all of which also belong to the Discovery network portfolio.
Live TV customers will be able to stream these new channels on Hulu’s platform starting this upcoming December. Also revealed by Hulu is an agreement with OWN for four of its top shows, all of which are exclusively available for streaming on the platform: The Haves and the Have Nots, If Loving You is Wrong, The Paynes and Love Thy Neighbor.
