Huawei Honor 6X has 5.5-inch screen and dual rear cameras

Huawei has announced a new smartphone that is called the Honor 6X. The device has a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution and covered in 2.5D curved glass. The SoC under the hood is an eight-core Kirin 655 16nm processor. One of the biggest features of the smartphone is that it has a dual sensor rear camera.

The main sensor is a 12MP unit with phase-detection auto-focus, LED flash, and a secondary 2MP camera for depth of field and background blur. The operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 over the top. The front camera is an 8MP unit and the fingerprint sensor is on the back of the smartphone right under the camera lenses.

Huawei says that the back fingerprint sensor can unlock the smartphone in 0.3 seconds. Slow fingerprint sensors make it feel as though you are waiting an eternity for the smartphone to unlock, this phone won't make you feel that way. The unibody is made from metal for a premium look and feel.

That octa-core Kirin 655 processor is mated with either 3GB or 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM depending on the version you purchase. Internal storage is 32GB for the 3GB version, though that storage can be had with 4GB of RAM as well. The 64GB storage version always has 4GB of RAM. Storage can be expanded with both versions up to 128GB via microSD cards. Another big feature is support for 4G VoLTE and the phone supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS as well.

The Honor 6X comes in gold, silver, grey, blue, and rose gold colors. Pricing starts at 999 yuan, which is about $148 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage version. The 32GB storage version with 4GB of RAM is $192 or 1299 yuan. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version is 1599 yuan, or $237. Pre-orders are going in China as of today with shipping on October 25.
